Alec Liddel → The Mind Mine Canon

Alec is very sure that he was born in the town. He remembers being a child here. He remembers living in one of the poorer pockets of town, the slumbering monster below serving as a constant backdrop to the dramatic, borderline-abusive situation with his parents. He remembers them being taken away to somewhere because they did something bad that had to do with the Ur thing, but he doesn't remember exactly what. He doesn't remember many "exactly"s about a lot of things, actually. But he remembers that he was born here, in the town.

At least, he thinks he remembers.

But it's okay, because things are fine how they are now. He has a small home of his own filled with books and toys and happy memories. He has found work as a Sower, which he is bizarrely good at, despite his unconventional methods and unusual workarounds. He has some friends and a foster family, and they're all quite proud of him, even if they get on his case for having his head up in the clouds and forgetting to leave his flat for days at a time. He knows a little bit of magic, sometimes, though he couldn't tell you why.

Oh, and sometimes he goes into a funny, absent state where he traverses through a world of dream nonsense, abstract chaos, and nightmare fuel that only he seems to be able to see.

But, you know, he's fine. And a normal person. Who was born in the town, and not in a dream.
